The leaves will soon change colors and the temperature will drop, meaning only one thing—Minnesota’s long cold winter is almost here, and many children are without warm coats. The Salvation Army needs new or gently used winter coats to keep needy children in the Twin Cities warm this winter. The annual Coats for Kids drive, October 5 through 18, 2009, has a goal of collecting 7,000 winter coats. Drop-off locations are listed below. Don’t Have a Coat to Donate? The Salvation Army will use online donations to purchase children’s coats at wholesale prices. A $15 donation buys one coat. For more information or to donate, call the Salvation Army at 651-646-2601. Need a Coat? Families in need of coats should call the Coats for Kids Hotline at 651-746-3412 for coat boutique location information. Coat boutiques will be open October 29.
