The 7th grade Social Studies Class is a survey course in American History designed to help develop an understanding of the people and events, which have shaped America. Special emphasis is placed on the study of our history through literature, fine arts, politics, geography, cultural and gender diversity and global perspectives. Students will be asked to analyze and evaluate decisions of the past, their effect on the present and predict possible future outcomes. CREATING AMERICA (the newly adopted St. Paul text) we hope to use this year but until purchased EXPLORING AMERICAN HISTORY, will be used as a guide and for homework assignments. Both texts are often supplemented by primary and secondary source readings, lecture and discussion notes in class. The ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS and MINNEAPOLIS STAR AND TRIBUNE are also used as resources. CREATING AMERICA has additional resources that can be found on the internet @ www.mcdougallittel.com and students can create a unique access with the following code MCD5LPCED6GIB
