Science Fair Project Criteria for Grading Use this as a checklist for completing each section of your project. Points for each item will vary according to the teacher’s emphasis. This will be the format for you Written Report. Written Report: This should be presented with the display. 1. Title Page 2. Table of Contents Introduction 1. Question/Problem: Is the question testable? Is the testing practical to do? What scientific idea is involved? 2. Research/Background: gather information prior to starting your testing; create a bibliography to be placed at the end of the report 3. Hypothesis: I predict ________ because __________. 4. Variable: changed item to be tested 5. Control: item to remain the same Experiment 1. Identify the materials to be used 2. Procedure/steps: How are you using the materials? Step by step procedure such that another person could repeat your work. Include safety precautions and symbols as needed. 3. Include diagrams, drawing or photos to show the set up used. Label parts clearly. Observations 1. Observations are measurable (graphing may be applied to the measurements) 2. Multiple trials of the experiment are recorded. 3. Appropriately labeled data tables, charts, photos, etc. Analysis 1. Calculations and/or comments on observations 2. graph(s) - fully and clearly labeled Conclusion and Discussion: 1. State what you learned. 2. How do your observations, data and graph support your conclusion? 3. How did your results compare to your hypothesis? 4. What are some possible sources of error? 5. How could the experiment be improved? 6. What other questions and/or additional experiments could be explored? Bibliography Project Display: Your project should demonstrate each of the following ...
