| Hi, I'm Robert Swanson | | | | Mr. Swanson |
I have my Associates Degree from Western Wisconsin Technical College (1991) in Computer Programming. I have my Bachelors Degree from Winona State University (1997) in Education and my Masters degree from Saint Mary's University (2005) in Education. I've been teaching junior high mathematics since 1997.
I follow the Minnesota State Standards for Mathematics in grades 7 & 8.
The presentation of the material is done in a completely different manner. Fifteen minutes of class time is spent on the computer working with a program called FastMath. FastMath helps the students review the basic skills of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division of numbers 0 - 12. FastMath also works on the speed at which these basic skills are recalled - hence Fast Math. The remainder of class time is spent reviewing old math skills while introducing the most important grade-level math skills for their particular grade. We do this through Cooperative Learning, Project-based Learning, Whole Group Instruction, as well as Individual Work.
