My name is Sandra Xiong-Vang and I am new to Ramsey Jr HS this school year.  I am currently teaching 8th grade English in rooms 121 (period 3) and 201 (period 4 & 5).  I have previously taught at Humboldt Jr HS and at Arlington HS.  I earned my Bachelor's degree at U of Saint Catherine with a focus in Communication Arts/Literature and a minor in Critical Studies of Race/Ethnicity.  Currently, I am pursuing my Master's of Arts in Education at U of Concordia, focusing on Curriculum and Instruction with a K-12 Reading endorsement.

I am married with three beautiful daughters (all named after characters from movies/video games that start with the letter R) and currently reside in Maplewood, MN.  I am also bilingual in Hmong and English.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing poetry, reading,
gardening and spending time with my family.  I am also an avid fan of Japanese manga and anime.

At the age of fifteen, I had a life altering event that almost prevented me from finishing high school.  With the guidance and support from a social studies teacher, I was able to graduate on time and begin my college career.  Had it not been for her, I truly believe I would not be the person I am today.  Furthermore, I want to be the hope and inspiration for students who were in my situation or felt that they could not accomplish their own dreams.
