Although school may be out for many students, the reading never stops. Studies have shown that summer reading helps prevent the summer slide, a yearly loss of 2-3 months worth of academic learning (CSLP Summer Reading White Paper, 2014). Summer reading is especially effective for students from low-income backgrounds.
Head to the St. Paul Public Library to grab some books for summer reading and participate in their summer reading program, Summer Spark! Participate in free, fun programs at all libraries and complete reading and activity challenges to win prizes like free books, family memberships to the Minnesota Science Museum or the Minnesota Children's Museum, and more.
