All About Ms. Fiedler....
Education
Ms. Fiedler attended the University of Minnesota here in the Twin Cities for
Nutrition Science and Biology with a minor in Spanish. After a year
away from the University she returned to begin a Master's program in
Science Education. She is currently continuing classes to complete her
Master's degree within the next couple years.
Interests
After
6 1/2 months in South America Ms. Fiedler found a new hobby of
researching and planning trips abroad. This includes finding volunteer
opportunities, planning travel routes, and learning the local language.
During
the summer of 2006 she canoed the entire Mississippi River from the
headwaters at Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico. The trip covered 2,300
miles, took 72 days, and passed through 10 states. She joined team
Kanoeing for Katrina in an effort to raise money for the Mr. Holland's
Opus Foundation, which refurbishes and purchases musical instruments
for students. The money raised during the Mississippi River trip was
designated for students affected by Hurrican Katrina.
Summer 2008 included a hike across England.
Volunteering
Past
volunteering experiences include rehabilitating monkeys in Bolivia,
teaching English and volleyball in Brasil, and working for a Humane
Society in Puerto Rico.
What's next? Travel plans for summer of 2009 are being built around a trip to Africa. Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are likely stops on this trip.
