8th grade Excel Math We are preparing the students for the MCA test in April. The grading scale for this class is A+ = 96% A = 92% A- = 88% B+ = 84% B = 80% B- = 76% C+ = 72% C = 68% C- = 64% D+ = 60% D = 56% D- = 50% N = < 50% Everything I do in class is based on research.  > I allow gum chewing in class because it helps some students to concentrate better.  But, it needs to stay in the mouth and make no noise with it.  If they can do this, they can chew gum.  If they can't, I will ask them to spit it out immediately.  They must spit it out at the end of class. > I allow students to bring a healthy snack to eat in class.  A healthy snack does not contain refined sugars and is not a chip, Cheetoh or sunflower seed.  All snacks eaten in class must be disposed of properly and cannot create a mess.  Snacks also can't be shared with other members of class.  (That is a health issue - allergies). > I play quiet ambient music in class.  This helps the students to remain calm and can concentrate more on their studies.
