Ms. Holm's English Classes Ms. Holm Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! I am pleased to be teaching for my twelfth year at Ramsey!  I am a lifelong resident of St. Paul, Minnesota and went through all St. Paul Public Schools, as have both of my children. My background includes working at the University of Minnesota for 20 years, teaching English as a Second Language at the Hubbs Center in St. Paul, and doing individual tutoring in reading and writing. My job here at Ramsey has changed somewhat over the years.  Currently, my job is as a teacher/coach, mads which means I am still teaching in the classroom but only in the morning.  In the afternoon  I work as a content coach collaborating with other English teachers across the district to improve our educational practices.  Additional responsibilities I have in this position are to work with the new district English curriculum, to continue to implement Disciplinary Literary methods in our classrooms, and to help establish staff development strategies such as Professional Learning Communities. My main love is still my work directly in the classroom.  Your son or daughter will most likely find my classes challenging and fast moving. We will do lots of reading and writing in a great variety of formats. I get to know students well and try to make sure their various needs are met. The environment in my room is hard working and fun---at least that is always my goal! Please feel free to drop in and visit us anytime you can.
