Reading in the Content Areas (AMP Reading) Reading in the Content Areas is a year-long class, designed to increase the comprehension skills of striving readers.  Students recommended for this course are demonstrating reading skills approximately one to two years below grade level, as measured by standardized testing.  Reading in the Content Areas is a fast-paced intervention program that uses the research based AMP Reading System.  To help students achieve their maximum potential, AMP teaches one comprehension strategy at a time, within a framework that incorporates vocabulary and fluency work.  Through the use of predominately non-fiction materials, students are exposed to academic high-value words across a variety of content areas.
