I prepared for teaching by
attending the Université du Québec à Montréal where I earned a BA in
Linguistics. I continued my education on language acquisition at the
University of Massachusetts. I earned my Minnesota teaching licensure
at Hamline University. I have been an educator for some 25 years with a
diversity of assignments that has challenged me to work with every age
group and proficiency level.
My teaching evolves from the following
beliefs:
- A foreign language is best learned with the support of culturally authentic context.
- Every learner is important, every student can learn MORE than one language, and every learning style can contribute to the learning community.
- Learning an other language better prepares us for this increasingly interdependent world, and it nurtures respect and appreciation for diversity. French is a language largely shared by the international community.
- Learning a language sets the stage for becoming a life long learner. Persistence, effort, and a sense of purpose are keys to success.
